Maniac Monday

I have to thank my son for inspiring today's Maniac post. He wanted to watch Mario, so I put on You Tube. Lo and behold they had Mario dancing to soldier boy. And he would find not only one but a zillion of them - gotta love you tube.

So I said, hey I wanna see the video. I go to You Tube and in my search I find this fun video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6nVcDkXNY8

They even have a version with changed lyrics sung by I don't know who to mario LOL

Wanna learn how to crank dat? Watch the instructional video!

***EDIT - adding this link hehehe
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZUCBO5aJDo

I called my husband and said he needs to get this song for us ( I make him get the music cause I would um.... Prolly buy fifty million songs. He has better self restraint.) He goes. oh. that one. I said um yeah heheh. I explained that my son kept yelling at me when I tried to turn it down.

The worst part? I'm watching everyone dance to this and all I can think is, "That looks like GREAT exercise"

Friday Flash - Dragon!

This is a touch over 750 words :)

The sound of a twig snapping woke her. Jill froze and tried to get her bearings. She blinked and looked around. What am I doing outside? Even as she thought the words, she remembered the butterfly and hiding from Jacob.

Until she knew what made that sound, Jill knew she needed to remain quiet and still. Finally, her eyes adjusted to the gleaming sun. From the angle and intensity of the sun, it was late afternoon. It could even be after dinner. Since she’d landed in Honolulu she’d had trouble keeping track of the time. They were almost a full day ahead of where she lived.

Jill tried not to sigh when she realized here she could be in danger and yet again her mind was off wandering on a tangent.

A snort brought her attention to a spot on the other side of the rock. With slow, careful movements, she twisted her body and felt for her camera. She grabbed onto it and wriggled until she could peek around the rock.

Whatever was on the other side made a snorting sound. Jill gasped and cringed. What if it was a wild boar? Those pigs had huge tusks and were meaner than a rattlesnake. She’d seen a Six Days and Seven Nights and Aloha Scooby Doo often enough to know it was a wild boar that chased people in both movies.

Harmless or not, she wasn’t taking a chance. Jill glanced around quickly for a weapon. Her heart thundered in her ears making it harder to hear the rustling and snorting sounds from the other side of the boulder.

Before she could find a weapon, huge wings in a rainbow of pastel colors rose over the boulder.

Oh. My. God. She hoped that hadn’t been said out loud as she readied her camera. Jill snapped off several shots, and tried to move around to see the front of this giant butterfly. It was amazing and unreal. The rumors were true.

Now that she knew the source of the noise was harmless, Jill rose and crept closer, snapping picture after picture. Thoughts of the fame the images would earn her made her careless. When she stepped on a twig and heard it snap, she froze and took pictures frantically, knowing the butterfly would look her way. Probably as it flew off.

A green head with a long snout turned her way. As the rest of the body revealed when the butterfly turned, she realized she’d made a terrible mistake. Butterflies didn’t have razor sharp teeth or huge ridges running up and down their backs. They also weren’t the size of a human, and didn’t eat small creatures.

Jill swallowed and took slow steps backward, trying not to make the creature attack. If she didn’t know better, she’d swear the green eyes looking back at her belonged to a dragon. A baby dragon? In the middle of Hawaii? In the real world? She was nuts. She’d skipped nuts and sailed over the deep end into the psychotic pit of no return.

A half chewed fish landed at her feet, and she heaved a sigh of relief. At least it wasn’t a small cat or squirrel. Did they have squirrels here? Of course not, this was tropical paradise.

Laughter poured out of her as she tripped over something and went down on her ass. She was going to die, eaten by a monster butterfly.

The creature made a sound like a growl as it moved closer. It took a minute for her laughter to calm enough that she could see it was interested in her camera. The dragon snorted, and smoke eased out of two large nostrils on its snout. Jill erupted in more laughter as she crawled backward in an awkward crabwalk.

A dragon. A living, breathing dragon. In the middle of a tiny island on an ocean. How the hell had she remained undetected for so long? The rumors of giant butterflies would be more than that if anyone else had gotten this close to it.

If she was going to die, she’d take as many pictures of the dragon as she could. If her camera survived she’d still be the most famous butterfly photographer ever. More giggles escaped, but she ignored them as she worked the camera into a frenzy.

The dragon opened its mouth, revealing large pointy teeth.

“The better to eat you with, my dear,” popped to mind. Jill knew she had lost all hope of retaining her sanity at this point, and didn’t even care.

New Review! Irish Dreams

Irish Dreams received a fabulous review from Beth at ParaNormal Romance reviews.

"Steamy, Sensual Irish Sexcapade"

http://www.paranormalromance.org/reviews/review.php?id=27619

Irish Dreams by Michelle Hasker is an erotic thrill ride filled with intriguing characters and an excellent plot. Simply put, it's HOT and I loved every minute of it.

Michelle

Tuesday Tidbit

I know that often authors will say this, but it's so true for me. I dream up my creations.

Midnight Rendezvous started with one scene. In my dream the heroine was in the alley and scared. The next minute she was plastered against the brick wall having the life kissed out of her. Aidan was born LOL.

Odd as it seems, I dreamt up The Agency with my monkey shifter. I dreamt of a scene with Jess and Chase that will appear in book three.

Morgan's Magick was born from a dream.

When I get stuck on a story I will try to dream about it in the hopes I will unblock my writer's block.

Maniac Monday

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I found this last night :)

I-rish you a very nice place to live,
I-rish God's greatest gifts he'll give.
I-rish you health, and wealth, and more--
I-rish your smilin' face were at my door!

Check out Love Romances Cafe tonight. I'll be chatting there with Aline de Chevigny tonight. We both have Irish stories. Hers is a St. Patty's tale and mine just takes place in Ireland :)

The leprechauns ran amok in my house last night. They turned our milk green and left Irish potatoes in my potato drawer. They also left Irish poems and pictures everywhere instead of the usual candy they scatter. Oh well :)

Hope you have a green beer and think of me.

Oh and lookie what I got:

Plastic on the left and glass on the right. Woo hoo can't wait to start giving some out to my loyal readers :)

Tuesday Tidbit

My first tidbit is that my book Irish Dreams released from Loose Id today ;)

My second tidbit is that I have a contest on my website until 3/24: http://www.michellehasker.com/contest.html

My third tidbit I found here: http://www.thedailygreen.com/environmental-news/latest/pharmaceuticals-drinking-water-47031110?src=rss

"The presence of a wide range of over-the-counter and prescription drugs, including antibiotics and hormones, was publicized by the Associated Press this week, after years of findings by government and independent scientists."

"To properly dispose of medication, keep it in its plastic container, fill it with water and kitty litter or sand, place the cap on the bottle, put it into a zip lock plastic bag, then dispose of it in the trash. The other option for discarding medications is to take them to your local hazardous waste facility or hazardous waste clean up day location."

The key thing here, people is that bottled water is NOT safer then Tap water. Tap water is tested and must pass certain tests. Bottled water doesn't and isn't as safe. Hard to believe, I know. Also, when you buy bottles water, you really aren't supposed to reuse those bottles. After several uses chemicals will get into the water in the bottle. It's also bad for the environment. Even if you recycle, imagine how much pollution is released into our atmosphere during production of the bottles.

Just drink for thought ;)

Michelle

*EDIT
Since someone wanted proof of my bottled water not tested statement....

http://www.nrdc.org/water/drinking/nbw.asp
"Sales of bottled water in this country have exploded in recent years, largely as a result of a public perception of purity driven by advertisements and packaging labels featuring pristine glaciers and crystal-clear mountain springs. But bottled water sold in the United States is not necessarily cleaner or safer than most tap water, according to a four-year scientific study recently made public by NRDC.

NRDC's study included testing of more than 1,000 bottles of 103 brands of bottled water. While most of the tested waters were found to be of high quality, some brands were contaminated: about one-third of the waters tested contained levels of contamination -- including synthetic organic chemicals, bacteria, and arsenic -- in at least one sample that exceeded allowable limits under either state or bottled water industry standards or guidelines.

A key NRDC finding is that bottled water regulations are inadequate to assure consumers of either purity or safety, although both the federal government and the states have bottled water safety programs. At the national level, the Food and Drug Administration is responsible for bottled water safety, but the FDA's rules completely exempt waters that are packaged and sold within the same state, which account for between 60 and 70 percent of all bottled water sold in the United States (roughly one out of five states don't regulate these waters either). The FDA also exempts carbonated water and seltzer, and fewer than half of the states require carbonated waters to meet their own bottled water standards.

Even when bottled waters are covered by the FDA's rules, they are subject to less rigorous testing and purity standards than those which apply to city tap water."

They have a chart on their page :)

Another quote from here: http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/03/10/there-are-drugs-in-drinking-water-now-what/?hp
Yes I know it discusses polutants in drinking water, but notice that drinking water is at least tested and then can be treated ;)
"That Brita filter in your kitchen is not likely to do the trick, either. As for bottled water, it, too, may come from a tap, rather than some remote mountain spring. And the trade group representing bottled-water sellers told The A.P. that they aren’t testing for the presence of trace drugs anyway."

http://www.thisland.uiuc.edu/57ways/57ways_40.html

One last thing LOL
""20/20" took five bottles of national brands of bottled water and a sample of tap water from a drinking fountain in the middle of New York City and sent them to microbiologist Aaron Margolin of the University of New Hampshire to test for bacteria that can make you sick, like e. coli.

"There was actually no difference between the New York City tap water and the bottled waters that we evaluated," he said."

Maniac Monday

Oh boy was today a doozy.

My daughter came home with two boxes of candy for us to sell to pay for her school trip. It's going to cost close to two hundred dollars, and the only fundraiser for it is this candy. And if I sell 54 candy bars I get a 27 dollar credit. Soooo Can we say Michelle is pushing candy bars on the street corner ;)

The highlight of my night was when my Brother won the booze basket at the Irish Parade in Philly. He gave me the huge bottle of Peach Schnapps because my husband went with him to pick it up. Good thing my husband did, everyone was asking my brother to give them bottles of booze. LOL AND TO top it all off!!! Mr. Michelle stopped for OJ so I am sipping fuzzy navels and trying to relax :)

Happy, happy Monday ;)

Tort and Retort - Maura Anderson

Tort & Retort

Author: Maura Anderson
Artist: Jinger Heaston

ISBN: 978-1-60168-087-7
Genre: Erotic romance
Publisher: Aspen Mountain Press
Publication Date: 02/15/2008

Author Blurb:
Ambitious and driven patent law attorney, Gayle Osborne, has a secret. Her power suits and take-no-prisoners attitude hide a passionate nature whose only outlet is reading and reviewing erotic romance. If anyone finds out that she is “Miss Retort,” the snarky and opinionated blogger from the Hits & Misses review blog, she’ll lose everything—her reputation, her clients, her job and, worst of all, her gorgeous mentor and boss, Tyler Monroe.

Another great read by Maura! Even though this is a Plain Brown Wrapper, it's the longest of them I've read, and that is not a bad thing. This kept my interest the entire time. I love the interactions between Tyler and Gayle. Tyler is so YUMMY! The love scenes are well done, and the story moves along without any lags.

Tort and Retort is a fun, entertaining read that I recommend whether you're a fan of Maura's or not.

No Monkey's Business:
This story is cute and funny as well as hot and sexy. I enjoyed the lively, outrageous character of Jessica.....I'm looking forward to the next installment!

Serpent's Kiss:
Serpent's Kiss is the second book in this delightfully sensual
undercover agent series.
I love the zaniness of having an undercover shape shifter become a

Maniac Monday

I'm late posting because I spent yesterday goofing off on the Changeling Press yahoo group.

My Sven count for yesterday was 836. Not bad since I had to play outside with the boy and then spent 2 hours at the girls scout meeting. They made first aid kits. Um two of my kids want to quit girl scouts. I'm torn. I think they could really benefit from it, but how can I put that before dance or softball? Exercise is good too!

AND the maniac part of the day was that I had bent over to pick up something and stood up to smack my head on the bottom of the freezer door. Apparently my 3 year old is tall enough to reach it and WING it open and well, when you bend over in the kitchen how many of us look up before we stand back up. I was joking that he tried to make himself motherless because it hurt that bad. In fact I started to cry then he started to cry and asked for an ice pack for his boo boo.

*sighs
and so of course I keep bumping the top of my head. Who knew a pillow could hurt so much LOL

Friday Flash

I must have cried myself to sleep, because when I woke not only was I freezing, but the room was completely dark. I drew in a deep breath and held it. There’s no reason to be afraid. There’s nothing hiding in the shadows. No one at all. Malcolm is in the other room. Memories of another time and another place surfaced to haunt me. There was a reason I avoided the dark. He’d come to me once before in the dark. He’d said that when the time was right he’d be back for me.
I prayed now was not the time.
Something moved in the far corner of the room. The closet door creaked as it slowly opened. The eyes that stared out at me weren’t human. Not human at all.

Genre: LGBT Suspense
Length: Novella

Paul Hammond is dead. That’s what tough and sexy LAPD Detective Daniel Moran tells his lover, Hollywood actor Sean Fairchild—and Sean wants to believe him, but what about those threatening postcards in Hammond’s handwriting? What about the fact that he’s seeing Hammond everywhere he goes? Yes, Sean’s had some emotional problems in the past, but that was a long time ago and he’s not imagining things, so why is Dan looking at him that way?

The last thing Sean needs is someone doubting him, especially when he’s competing against the odds for the coveted leading role in the screen adaptation of The Charioteer. But then again, as ex-lover and manager Steve points out, what does Sean really know about his new boyfriend? Dan is a dark horse—and maybe Sean is betting too much on this relationship.

He can’t afford to take foolish chances. It not just Sean’s career at stake or his relationship or even his sanity—it’s his life.

Publisher’s note: this book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: m/m homoerotic sex practices.

I have three things to say about this book and the author.
1-Wow!
2-Josh Lanyon is an amazing writer.
3-You have to read this book.

Okay, so maybe I have more things to say.
I sat down tonight and read this story from beginning to end. In one sitting. My kids are just finishing dinner now and it's 8:57pm as I type this. Yes, dear CP's I used a !. I think most exclamation marks are overused, but for this !!!!!! I think I need several more.

My thoughts on this author - Josh Lanyon is a must read. The characters are believable, the story fast paced, and the writing smooth, captivating, and flawless.
Hard to believe, isn't it? My internal editor shut up and remained silent through the entire book. If there was an error I missed it.

Even now, an hour after I finished reading the story, it is still with me, in my head, wanting to be discussed.

When I started reading, I thought, how in the world would I ever identify with Sean? He's an actor for crying out loud. Well, he's also gay, but that doesn't bother me :)
From the start I was drawn into the suspense. The emotional development is well done, and so was the story as the action unfolded. I am so happy to say that I guessed it right. LOL I knew whodunnit. Yay me. But it was written so well that I kept going, please let me be right, please let me be right as I read the story. Josh Lanyon will keep you glued to the screen while you read this book. It's not one you can conveniently put down and pick back up again later. Curse my contracted story that made me wait so long for this delicious goody. And I have to say it, Dan is just YUMMY!!!!

I'd definitely recommend this book, and will now be looking for other books by this author.

Maniac Monday

Thank you Dad! For enabling my procastination and enteraining me LOL
(no he doesn't read this but I had to thank him anyway!)

1. A vulture boards an airplane, carrying two dead raccoons. The flight attendant looks at him and says, "I'm sorry, sir, only one carrion allowed per passenger."

2. Two fish swim into a concrete wall. The one turns to the other and says "Dam!"

3. Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft. Unsurprisingly, it immediately sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.

4. Two hydrogen atoms meet. One says "I've lost my electron." The other says "Are you sure?" The first replies "Yes, I'm positive."

5. Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root canal? His goal: transcend dental medication.

6. A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories. After about an hour, the manager came out of the office and asked them to disperse. "But why?", they asked, as they moved off. "Because," he said," I can't stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer."

7. A woman has identical twins and is forced to give them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal." The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him "Juan." Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're identical twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."

8. A group of friars were behind on their belfry payments, so they opened up a small florist shop to raise funds. Since everyone liked to buy flowers from the men of God, a rival florist across town thought the competition was unfair. He asked the good fathers to close down, but they would not. He went back and begged the friars to close. They ignored him. So, the rival florist hired Hugh MacTaggart, the roughest and most vicious thug in town to "persuade" them to close. Hugh beat up the friars and trashed their store, saying he'd be back if they didn't close up shop. Terrified, they did so, thereby proving that only Hugh can prevent florist friars.

9. Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and, with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him (Oh, man, this is so bad, it's good) a super calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

And finally,

10. There was the person who sent ten different puns to friends with the hope that at least one of the puns would make them laugh. No pun in ten did.

A light rain drizzled down upon them, then ceased as Sandra lifted her arms up in the air, holding her athame up high. “Hail to the elements! Welcome to the Lady and Lord! We stand between the worlds surrounded by light, love and power.”

Sandra poured wine onto the ground for the Lady and Lord, and turned to face Camryn.

“I know we’ve done spells before, but the power you five hold is amazing,” Camryn said.

Macy bit back a smart assed retort. While Camryn’s comment was not only inappropriate, it was also bad timing. If she responded it would only compound things.

“Are you ready to begin, Camryn?” Sandra asked.

“I’m not sure where to start. I did spells for love, money, health, a job and looks.”

“Did you follow my instructions?”

“Yes, I did. But--”

“No buts. Get your spells in order, dear. Job, looks, health, love, money. Please start when you are ready.”

Camryn nodded, but looked nervously around the circle while Sandra piled small oak twigs inside the cast iron cauldron. Camryn rifled through her papers until she produced the one she wanted. After reading the paper, she reached for the Frankincense candle and lit it. “Please cleanse me, as I reverse the spells I cast in ignorance.”

The flame flickered, but held strong. Then Camryn drew in a deep breath, looked down at the sheet and repeated the spell. Fortunately, this time the flame stayed strong and true. When she finished, she dropped the paper in the cauldron. It burned with a brilliant flash of light.

Camryn smiled and looked around the circle before she pulled out the next spell. As she read this one her confidence was more assured, but that didn’t comfort Macy in the least. Camryn was a walking accident.

When Camryn finished the last spell, she dropped the papers into the cauldron. A huge flame leapt out and split into five separate flames. One shot at each corner, and the last at Sandra as she stood next to the altar.

A flame hit her dead in the chest, sending her flying over the sandy beach. Macy gulped in salt water as she immediately sank into the ocean. Panic clutched at her chest as she tried to claw her way back to the surface. How far out had the magic thrown her? Why hadn’t they guessed that Camryn was still working for her old coven?

Her limbs felt heavy and sluggish, and the salt water burned her throat, but Macy continued to work feverishly to reach the surface. Her head broke free once, and she sucked in a deep painful breath before she sank back under. Trying not to panic, Macy remembered all the things her swimming instructor had once taught her, but it didn’t do a bit of good. With her arms and legs refusing to respond, she was rapidly sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Her last thought was of Trevor and how much she still loved the power hungry, lying son-of-a-bitch.

Maniac Monday

So for my next installment of Maniac Monday.

Last night we're just being goofs. My husband was chasing the munchkins and one got hurt. As usual. Okay when you chase 4 kids through a kitchen, dining room, foyer and living room someone is bound to get hurt. At least nothing was broken.

My 5 year old comes to me crying because her finger is bleeding. She's scratched it between the sofa and floor. (You'd think hardwood floors would keep them from diving on the floor - no.)

I tried to cheer her up as I cleaned and bandaged her finger. "At least you didn't lose it."

She sniffled. Then says, "I know. I need my pointer finger to read."

I burst into hysterics. She's in kindergarten and points as she reads. Plus her first thought was that she needs to read, not that she needs the finger to play or write or whatever.

My husband - smart ass that he is - says "You also need your finger to pick your nose." She giggled and jumped off me and ran to play again.

Men.

Kids.

As Marge Simpson says "It's aged me horribly."

Wacky Wednesday

So today I'm gonna post about my kids. Why? Because they constantly amuse me. (Which is a good thing since some days they drive me insane.)

Last night my husband, son and I are snuggling in bed watching Scooby Doo. It's the one with Chill in the title I think. The one with the Yeti. My son was being a nudge as little boys tend to be (at least in my experience). He started with "Are you looking at me?" I started laughing because he was facing the tv and looking at me out of the corner of his eye. He repeats "Are you looking at me?" I respond with "Yeah, I'm looking at you." His response? "Can I help you?" I started to cry I was laughing so hard. My husband was laughing and we'd set each other off.

Even though they drive me insane, days like today make me remember it's worth staying up all night with a sick kid.

In other news, my oldest got a free day. We had a two hour delay, and since the other two were home with a stomach virus I left them with my sleeping son and walked her to the corner for the bus. Where we stood in rain just above freezing temperatures to wait 35 minutes for the bus. At which point she was soaked, her shoes, her pants, and she was crying. I sent her home and stood at the corner with the other boys because two of them said their parents had already left for work and they couldn't go home (Couldn't get in their house.) After 45 minutes the bus arrives, empty. I called the school and said that my daughter would not be there today because the bus didn't come. And she said, they are running beind, they should be there any minute. I said, no. 45 minutes in the rain with ice and now on the ground is unreasonable. Especially since the OTHER bus to the same school (that goes past our bus stop every morning) was only 10 minutes later than it should have been, not 45. The elementary school bus came at it's normal pick up time, and arrived before the middle school bus. Plus the bus hadn't even arrived to pick them up until AFTER school had started. So they said they would excuse her. Why should I lie and say she's sick when they had a group of kids stand in the rain and sleet and snow and ice for 45 minutes. Cranky? Nah. When I was a kid and the bus didn't come it was a free day. My oldest just got her first taste of a free day. Don't you wish you had a mom like me? *snickers*

Tuesday Tidbit

Continuing my theme to get myself to post daily, I'm going to do a Tuesday Tidbit, but only when I have something interesting to say. LOL

In my research I discovered that Sassafras was once used to make rootbeer. Now, I already knew that. I used to live in the country where people made their own rootbeer. (We actually made our own ice cream too, but that's another story.) And I remember as children my brother and I would break twigs off of the sassafras tree to chew/suck on because we were told it had the flavor of rootbeer. (That no longer being true as it is no longer used to make rootbeer.) (And what do you expect from kids who thought walnuts came from the walls because whenever our neighbor was around they'd magically appear and bounce around.) It turnd out that Sassafras is used to make E. Kind of funny to me that Coca Cola used to contain cocaine. So this morning I was giggling my patootie off because we used to get free drugs with every drink. Of course it isn't the same as the processed material and the 'useable' drug, but it still strikes me funny.

So you'll no longer find Sassafras in rootbeer or in make up products. I guess it absorbs into the skin? I'm not sure. Why would they use sassafras for makeup anyway? rootbeer flavoring? hehehe.

Sorry,
Michelle

Maniac Monday

I decided to make today Maniac Monday because my son is driving me insane. And why shouldn't he? The others are all in school and mommy is supposed to spend the day playing (let's forget she has deadlines-and you can't explain them to a 3 year old anyway!)

So what am I doing on this Maniac day? Spending the day playing Diner Dash Flo on the Go (the vacation one) and I would rather have more options for decorating the room than changing her clothes. Because of the way it is set up, you don't get to win all the decorations for each level. My cruise ship, train and submarine are sadly lacking. (I haven't won the game yet, but I have all experts LOL)

Yes - I am THAT ANAL. I missed expert on one level I became obsessed. I played it until I beat it. Fortunately, some levels I get expert on the first try, but if I don't, LOOK OUT FLO!!! LMAO

My husband has walked in to hear me saying "Just order already damn it!" or "What the hell are you waiting for?" "Come on come on idiots!"

Of course this cracks me up. I remember my mom came to visit once. We had the Playstation. I forget which one it was. She died in 2000 so it might have been PS or PS2. We opted not to get the PS3 since we went through TWO PS2's and have nothing to show for it but two dead PS2's. I sent one back to them to fix and they sent it back saying to keep dust off the unit. (LMAO) I have cans of dust off and electronic wipes. My husband works in computers and I spend all my free time on computers and used to work on them all day when I did. I really don't think it is dust that killed both my PS2 units. Honestly. Do I need to clean it every night? So we've given up on playstation BUT I lost my thread. LOL

Sooo my mom was a character she would move the controller the direction she wanted it to go and would yank it up to make it jump. (She was fun on the Nintendo playing Mario, let me tell you. Watching her was too much fun.)

Guess some silliness is hereditary ;)

Friday Flash

“Get in, get out.”

Ivana steeled her spine as she slipped her hand into a small pouch on her belt and pulled out one of her favorite devices. Too high tech for her to understand, it opened any lock in three seconds flat, and deactivated alarm systems. After it worked it’s magic, she slipped the gadget back in the pouch and patted it for a job well done. The only perks of this job were the lovely tools and gadgets provided for her.

A quick glance around assured she was alone. Ivana opened the door and slipped inside. She shut the door, and with the press of a button, the door was locked once more, and the alarm reactivated.

If her information was accurate, there wasn’t much time. Even worse, if she didn’t accomplish her mission before the moon reached its zenith, the deal would be off, and she’d be imprisoned once more. Damn the king and his ultimatums.

Determination fueled her as Ivana walked through the outer office. Even though her mark had left for dinner, he’d be back soon. Whatever he was working on he must be important for so many people to want it. She needed to procure it before anyone else did. And once she killed him and grabbed his research disks, she could get out of here and start celebrating her freedom.

Two shadows blocked the pale moonlight. Her breath caught in her throat. The mark should be alone. How and where did he pick up a friend in such a small amount of time? Friend or foe, she couldn’t take out both of them without knowing who and what the second man was.

Ivana looked for a hiding spot as she activated her belt. The power in the belt hummed to life. Not a hum one could hear, but a vibration she felt throughout her entire body. The special technology allowed anyone wearing the catsuit to become invisible until deactivated.

In one leap, she jumped and landed on top of a tall sturdy filing cabinet and perched there, holding her breath as she listened for her prey.

The alarm system deactivated as the door unlocked and opened. Several lights clicked on, bathing the room in industry yellow.

“See, no one in here, Derek. You’re a good bodyguard, but a little jumpy. If you weren’t so highly recommended…”

“And you know we have to find this Chameleon. You’re next on his hit list. We’ve lost too many lives and secret projects to this head hunter.”

Hit list? How did he get a hold of the information? Does Uriel know of the leak?

“Why don’t you go get me a cold beverage from that place down the street? Your nervousness is messing with my mojo.”

Pleasure rippled through her body as she recognized the smaller, rounder male. His blonde hair and blue eyes remained unchanged from the image she’d been shown on the video. He was sending away his only hope of survival. This was too easy. Thank the gods this was her last hit and then her sentence would be over. The Chameleon suit would be passed on to another poor soul, but that wouldn’t be her problem.

The second man, much taller and more devastating in his appearance, looked around the office as if he knew someone was there. Watching. Waiting. Finally, he looked back at his boss.

“I’m not nervous. I’m cautious. And I don’t think that’s a good idea. You hired me for security, not to leave you alone.”

“Right. I hired you. You’re hovering over me, Derek. I need a minute to breath.”
Speaking of breathing. The need to breathe overwhelmed her. Ivana slowly let out a breath and drew in some much needed air. Derek’s head swiveled her way and she froze again. His blue eyes seemed to pierce through her invisible armor. His mouth curved in a wicked grin, and he winked.

The vibration of her suit hiccupped, stopped, then started again. Shit. Not again. Ever since the power source had been stolen, there had been problems with the suit. Uriel warned her that it didn’t matter. She had to accomplish her missions, anyway. With or without the special abilities.

“I’ll get you a drink after you go in your office, lock your door, and turn on your personal office alarm.”

ideas and caridad :)

So when I was visiting Caridad Pineiro's blog.

http://www.caridad.com/blog/

I LOVE how she has it set up. There is something going on EVERY single day. It's not one of those blogs you go to and sigh because there is nothing new posted. Not only that but I amused myself for over an hour at her site.

Let's not mention her delicious hunk pictures or I'll start drooling again.

So I'm trying to think about what I want to do on here. I'm not gonna copy her, but I think it's a fab idea and I want to start doing Friday Flash again and have at least two other days where I post consistantly. But wait it will dig into my writing time won't it? bahhhhh talking is fun!!

I'm open to ideas and suggestions. Oh, I'm also going to be doing the 250 word flash fiction on Wednesdays on the Loose ends blog.

New Review, and one I haven't posted before

This is just part of the fabulous review Amanda from Romance Junkies gave Weekend Menage:
Five Blue Ribbons:
WEEKEND MENAGE by Michelle Hasker is wickedly erotic. This story is sure to leave you breathless and hot and bothered! Michelle Hasker is a phenomenal writer who really knows how to pack a punch with her short stories. She's definitely one of my favorite authors and each of her stories leaves you feeling complete when you're finished reading.

and another review I found today on the same site:
Five Blue Ribbons:
THE BODYGUARD: NASH is one hell of a start to a new series from the amazingly talented Michelle Hasker. This story just exploded with passion from the very first page and keeps you on the edge of your seat in carnal delight until the very end. Nash is downright sexy! ....... She fights him tooth and nail for her independence which makes for some very interesting and humorous dialogue between the two. When these two come together, objects literally explode around them! THE BODYGUARD: NASH is a rare gem in the paranormal world of writing and I'm completely addicted. I cannot wait for the next story in this series!

Nash has been Reviewed! Thrice!

LOL I didn't know until I got the review listing from Loose, that Nash had received three reviews!

The first from Literary Nymphs:

The Bodyguard: Nash is the second and newest release in Ms. Hasker’s bodyguard series. The attraction between Vickie and Nash is instantaneous and almost violent in its intensity and the sparks literally fly whenever they get in the same room. The story is well written, is fast paced, filled with sizzling hot sexual encounters, and has great integration of the characters from the previous book. Ultimately these two are perfect lovers and partners. The question is whether their desire and lust can turn into love and trust that will last forever.

With the hints given in this book, I’m eagerly waiting for Sorin’s book to find out how this extended plotline plays out. The ending only leaves you wanting to know more.

And second from JERR:

Tallyn Porter from JERR gave Nash: 4 Stars and a heat level H

Nash is the second installment of The Bodyguard series which can be read independently. Nash is a charming, alpha and overprotective man who has found his true mate in an independent, strong-willed and powerful witch named Vicki. He loves her unconditionally, while she doesn't quite seem to trust him just yet until she comes to realize that they belong together. The intimacy they share is passionate and very hot which includes oral stimulation, voyeurism and a little bit of BDSM to spice up their romance. The sex scenes were very titillating and seductive, yet full of emotions due to Nash giving up his control to Vicki. I found that the secondary characters from the first story, Nic, Elena and Sorin, help to create the mystery and pending threat without overshadowing the main focus of Vicki and Nash's relationship. I enjoyed the meticulous details and scenery within this tale making magic very realistic in this story. The steps that Nash goes through to help Vicki with her powers make him such a caring character and makes me love him even more. I haven't read Nic and Elena's story but with their appearance in this book, I definitely want to get to know them even more. I look forward to the next installment of this interesting series.

You must belong to the JERR yahoo group to be able to access this review in the Jan 29th edition of their ezine.

And last but NOT least:

Night Owl Romance:
Night Owl romance reviewer Dee gave Nash 4.5 and named it a Top Pick

The Bodyguard: Nash is a fast paced 71 page erotically entertaining story with conflict good guys and bad guys - and a heroine that stumbles through life until her mate shows her the way. The settings have just enough color as the characters actions are the focus. Their amorous sex scenes tantalize rewarding author Michelle Hasker a gold star for a climactic job - well done. The plot is easy to follow with personable characters; perceivable settings, erotic love scenes, and conflict all in a neat little package.

New Review ! No Monkey's Business

Title: The Agency: No Monkey's Business
Category – paranormal
Reviewer: Amanda Haffery
Author: Michelle Hasker
Blue Ribbon Rating 1-5 – 5

SNIPPET: A shape shifting monkey, a really hot undercover agent and a mission that could determine their lives—THE AGENCY: NO MONKEY'S BUSINESS is sure to leave readers breathless in anticipation.

Chase has no idea that Jessica can shift her shape into that of a monkey. He just knows he came on this mission for one thing…to get into Jess' pants. He's wanted her since he first saw her across the way years ago. Is Chase really an undercover agent on this mission or does he have a completely different agenda from what he's telling Jess?

THE AGENCY: NO MONKEY'S BUSINESS is a truly fun romp through mistrust and passion. Jess and Chase are smokin' hot! They're passion is almost palpable in the bedroom scenes. Although Jess is just using Chase to get information, I could sense more behind her actions. Even though there is a lot of amazing sex in this story, there's also a very engaging storyline. ........I would suggest to readers that if you're going to read this story, you be prepared to continue the story with Ms. Hasker's following books as this is a series and there is definitely more to come in the lives of Chase and Jess.

You'll have to wait for the review to post live at Romance Junkies to see all of what Amanda had to say about No Monkey's Business.

The Bodyguard: Nash

The Bodyguard: Nash
Available now at Loose Id

http://www.loose-id.com/detail.aspx?ID=632

Philly bartender Victoire Duramel picked the right night to lose control of her magic. The night Fae bodyguard Nash Dupree sensed his soulmate and a strong, untrained magic violently unleashed.

Struggling under the strength of her power, Victoire accepted Nash's help without question. Now he wants to train her and teach her how to control her magic. But there's a price. Her heart and soul.

When she denies him, Nash refuses to let her go. He'll do whatever he must to guard the feisty witch and have her for his own.

Excerpt One

Seductive and intoxicating, the scent of magic filled the air. But it wasn’t the magic that called to him. It was the witch wielding it. For hundreds of years, he’d searched for his true love. And tonight, with this delectable scent, Nash knew she was nearby. There was no other explanation for his magic’s reaction to the scent. This was the closest he’d ever been. He wasn’t about to waste this chance.

“You need to find your one. That way you’ll leave my wife alone.”

Nash snorted and looked at Nic. “You’re the one who invited me into your bed. If you wanted me gone, all you had to do was ask. Oh, wait. You did, and I complied. It was months ago, Nic.”

“Please.” Elena reached out and put a hand on each of them. “Not here in public. We’ll settle this at home.”

Whatever. I haven’t done more than flirt with Elena. Something else is bothering Nic. But what?

Nash glanced across the table and studied his brother and sister-in-law. Fae and vampire. An unlikely combination, but then, he wouldn’t have predicted his own true love would be a witch.

As he watched the two lovebirds, the scent drew closer, giving him a hard-on as he lost the ability to think straight. Nash looked out the window of the small café, hoping for a glimpse of his woman. There was only one way to know for sure if she was his true love or not. Sex. No-holds-barred sex.

A tall woman with long, dark hair hesitated outside the café. She turned and looked inside. Blue-gray eyes met his and held for a long heartbeat. Nash reached out with his mind. As soon as he brushed against her mind, she looked away, frightened, and hurried away. Shit! I scared her.

“Excuse me.” Nash rose and was halfway out the door before either Nic or Elena could say anything.

Nash looked both ways, but the slender beauty had vanished. Following her scent proved as much of a challenge as he was sure convincing her to sleep with him would be. As he grew closer to her, the strength of her power increased and made his dick hard. Was she using her power on someone or something?

Fear permeated the air, mingling with her sweet seductive scent. Nash hurried, unable to see the woman who stirred such a deep response from him, but able to sense her well enough to track her. Hell, he sensed her so well he could probably have communicated with her telepathically. But that would most likely scare her again.
When Nash passed a dumpster, she came into his view. The sight made him pause. A man approached her, menace in his every step. The beauty threw her arms out, and magic streaked from her hands, knocking the man across the alley into a brick wall.

Instead of releasing the excess magic she’d summoned, she stood there, staring at the man. Power strained visibly at her fingertips, begging for release. Why the hell didn’t she release the power she was obviously struggling to control? Didn’t she understand that she’d summoned too much energy, and it needed someplace to go?
Suddenly, she dropped to her knees and raised her arms to the sky.

“Please.” She sounded scared and desperate as tears slipped down her cheeks. “Please, someone help me.”

Before he knew his intent, he’d crossed the distance and placed his hands on her shoulders, sending her strength.

“Let me help you.” When he whispered the words next to her ear, he felt a shiver of desire race through her. She moaned as, unguarded, her lust and magic reached for him.

“Please, let me go. I don’t want to hurt you.”

“It’s all right, love. You won’t hurt me.”

“No.” She shook her head. “You don’t understand. I don’t understand. I’ll hurt you if you don’t let go.”

“You won’t hurt me. Let me help you. Let me ease your pain.”

* * * * *

“You don’t know what you’re saying. If you don’t release me, you’ll end up dead, like that drunken idiot.” Victoire looked up at the stranger through tears. He had no idea what would happen to him if he touched her. If he thought she could control these powers, he was wrong. Dead wrong.

“He’s not dead, and your power doesn’t intimidate me.”

Victoire struggled against desire and the straining magic inside her. She looked up at him. His bright blue eyes held her gaze. She fell into those pools of deep blue, finding a peace in them she hadn’t known since she’d discovered she had magical powers. This man, whoever he was, called to something in her. Something primitive. Something she’d tried to subdue ever since she’d discovered these uncontrollable powers. Goddess help her, she wanted this man, no matter the cost.

As they spoke, he eased through her rapidly weakening shields, letting some of her magic free. A burst of energy streaked to the ground and faded.

“What are you doing?” Panic flared. Victoire rose and quickly backed up. “Stop it!”

“I’m not trying to hurt you or weaken you. You need to release some of your pent-up magic before it hurts you.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” A twinge of guilt ate at her. So she lied. She had to. Even if it was obvious that he’d seen her display.

“It’s okay. I have some powers myself. I don’t think you want to hurt anyone. I won’t tell anyone about you, either.”

Victoire stared at him, trying to understand her fear and lust for this stranger. It wasn’t that she was afraid of him. She was afraid she’d hurt him. And the lust. Good Goddess, who wouldn’t have an instant case of the hots? The man was absolutely gorgeous.

“How do you propose to help me?”

“I’m going to help you release all that energy.”

“How?” She narrowed her eyes and glared at him.

“With sex.”

Update

Sorry that I've been remiss in posting. I needed to take some time for family things. I also did a partially homemade Christmas. There were a few things I bought, but many things that I made as gifts.
I also needed some time away from writing because it was getting stale and old and driving me batty. The time worked. I wrote 7k on Friday and almost 4k on Saturday.
If I was still keeping up with Sven, I'd be reporting that I won. But I get bored and no one was playing with me LOL Except Kim and she's liable to distract me with movies of The Master. Okay I still have two stories to finish starring him.
I also had a lot of edits. I have three releases in January:
Jan 1st- The Bodyguard: Nash from Loose Id
and then
No Monkey's Business from Changeling
and
A Cruise to Remember from Aspen Mountain Press
I've been busy ;)

I hope you have all had a fabulous holiday no matter what you celebrate. (I just love the break from school so I can sleep in ;)

I'm also toying with the idea of redoing my website. What? I said I get bored easily!!

I wish everyone a Happy Healthy New Year.
(Oh yeah, I finished a story that I truly enjoyed writing and started a new one. I plan to catch up on my writing, but I still have gifts to make for those that I won't see until January ;)

Grace gasped and tried to pull away. She didn’t manage to get free though, and her wiggling only served to make Jacob groan and press into her.

“I still don’t hear a protest, Grace.”

“You’re just going to stand there and watch your best friend maul me?”

“Jacob told me how you kicked him out of the house last month.”

Grace flushed. “He started it! He’s an insufferable ape. At least when you are here he behaves.”

“Jacob tells a different story.”

“And who are you going to believe? Him or me? I’m your wife.”

“My wife who’s in a very compromising position right now?”

Grace groaned and pressed against Jacob’s chest. He ignored her at first, then sighed and pulled back. She freed herself from Jacob and walked over to Jeremy. “You know I’d never betray you. I would never cheat on you. I honor my vows, Jeremy.”

“I know.” He grabbed her hips and pulled her up against him. She gasped to feel his erection pressing against her.

“Jeremy?” She tilted her head back and looked up at him.

“Yes, love?”

“I’m confused.”

“I know you are.” He lowered his mouth and kissed her hungrily, taking complete possession of her mouth. She whimpered and clung to him. She’d never had him kiss her with this much force before. It was like he was starving for her.

Hands settled on her shoulders, and she stiffened. Jacob pressed against her, his erection rubbing her lower back. Warm lips settled on her neck and nipped, then sucked on her. She gasped and arched into Jeremy.

“Jeremy?” She tried to focus on him, but with both of them touching and rubbing against her, and Jacob’s mouth torturing her, it was not an easy task.

“I want you to grant me my Christmas wish.” Jeremy’s passion laden voice sent a shiver through her. “Somehow I think my wish is your wish.”

“I know it’s my wish,” Jacob growled in her ear.

“What is it?” She held her breath. Did he want to invite Jacob to join them in the bedroom?

“It’s a two part wish.”

She swallowed and asked breathlessly, “Okay. What is it?”

Part three of A Christmas Wish

Link to part one

Link to part two

Jacob’s eyes blazed with unrestrained lust, and it made her weak in the knees. She leaned back against the counter, helpless to say or do anything. His erection pressed into her belly, wringing another moan from her. She was in deep trouble now. Jacob wanted her as fiercely as she wanted him, and he was the type to take what he wanted and damn the consequences.

“Well, well. What have we here?” Jeremy’s voice made her jump and flush with guilt.

“Nothing! I cut myself and Jacob was…” Grace realized how lame her explanation was, but had to keep going. “He was looking at my cut.”

Jacob’s dick pressed even harder against her stomach, bringing her attention back to him. He was so hard, and he felt big. God how she wanted to feel it deep in her pussy. Why didn’t he let go of her finger?

“Really?”

She looked back over at Jeremy. He stood leaning against the wall, his arms crossed and a look of pure disbelief on his face. Jacob sucked on her finger again. Grace bit back a moan, and fisted her fingers in his shirt sleeve. More moisture gathered between her thighs.

“Really, Jeremy. You know what a perve he is. He invaded my personal space without even thinking about it.”

“So Jacob put the moves on you?”

Her eyes flicked up at Jacob. She saw the censure in his eyes and swallowed past a suddenly dry throat.

“No. Not really. He was looking at my cut.”

“From here it looked like he was rubbing his body all over yours, and you weren’t protesting.” He shifted his gaze to Jacob. “What have you got to say, old friend?”

Jacob released her finger and grinned. “I’d like to do a lot more than rub my body up against hers.”

New Review!! Bunny Love :)

I got a wonderful review from Amelia at Sensual eCataromance!

http://sensual.ecataromance.com/index.php?p=354

Though a little bunny brought Blade and Tambra together, it is the intense desire they feel for each other which also has them seeking out the other from time to time. Filled with fiery love scenes, this couple definitely knows about passion and how to express it with eagerness. The moments concerning the tiny critter are touchingly written, and there are some amusing times when Blade and Tambra first meet in her tent. Whether the scene is sensual in nature or more emotional, the genuine feelings of the characters come to the surface, making the event all the more real. Michelle Hasker has composed a delightfully passionate story with BUNNY LOVE.
