National Dog Day

When : Always August 26th

National Dog Day has two goals: to honor dogs, and to rescue dogs from homelessness and abuse. It's an opportunity for us to recognize and appreciate the value and importance of dogs in our lives.

This day is intended to honor dogs for all that they do for us. In addition to giving love and companionship, dogs help us out in countless ways. They are watchdogs for our safety. They lead the blind. Dogs aid in search and rescue, and they seek out bombs and drugs.

The second goal of National Dog Day is to rescue dogs in need. On occasion, dogs need us to save them from homelesness and abuse. The goal of the National Dog Day foundation is to rescue 10,000 dogs a year. Lend a hand to help a dog in need today, or any day.

Origin of National Dog Day:
National Dog Day was created by the National Dog Day Foundation. Their motto is "Saving 10,000 Dogs - One Day at a Time".

President George W. Bush, a dog owner himself, sent a letter to the foundation in support of National Dog Day.

In honor of National Dog Day and our dog-owning customers, select Sonic Drive-In locations in Texas will be offering FREE Doggy Bags with purchase to the first 100 customers who bring their dogs through our drive-thru on Saturday, August 23. What can you expect from our Doggy Bags? Look for a treat, some fun Sonic-related merchandise for your pet’s safety, and more! The event will start when we open at 6:00am and continue while supplies last. Customers who arrive after all Doggy Bags have been handed out will still get a treat for their pet, plus a coupon for coming out to support this great event!

Howloween in the Bark
October 25th - 10AM - 5PM (in the park)

Exact Orange County CA location to be announced very soon!

National Dog Day has officially changed it's date! Due to a large majority of Dog Day fans expressing that the heat in August is just too much for them and/or their dogs to bear, we have changed the date to October 25th annually.

This year will be the last of the events during August and we'll celebrate our new date with this event in Orange County, California.

Maniac Monday: Obtainable Affirmations

I know this is one of those SPAM emails that you get from everyone you know twice, but it made me laugh so hard I wanted to share it with people who may not have seen this.

Obtainable Affirmations

1. As I let go of my feelings of guilt, I am in touch with
my inner sociopath.

2. I have the power to channel my imagination into ever-
soaring levels of suspicion and paranoia.

3. I assume full responsibility for my actions, except
the ones that are someone else's fault.

4. I no longer need to punish, deceive, or compromise
myself, unless I want to stay employed.

5. In some cultures what I do would be considered normal.

6. Having control over myself is almost as good as having
control over others.

7. My intuition nearly makes up for my lack of self-
judgment.

8. I honor my personality flaws for without them I would
have no personality at all.

9. I am grateful that I am not as judgmental as all those
censorious, self-righteous people around me.

10. I am willing to make the mistakes if someone else is
willing to learn from them.

Maniac Monday

The fact I had to retype the title of this blog post three times tells you how wonderful my day has been. Have you ever wished for a do over day? I needed one last friday, and I need one today.

Seems like I'm making silly mistakes and sitting here half asleep. I even went home at lunch time and surprised the monsters with fast food for lunch. It'll prolly be spagetti for dinner LOL

soooo
it looks like I'll have to wait for tomorrow to start over again.

Wish me luck :)

Wacky Wednesday

Taken from: yahoo news
Japan's females are longest living in world

Japanese girls born last year can expect to live until they are 86 years old, which would make them the longest survivors in the world, a report from the country's health ministry showed.

Okay, my first thought?
Imagine how much more writing time I'd have if I was born in Japan!!
My second thought was where the hell do they put all those people?
Then I read this:
Japan also has one of the world's lowest birth-rates, leaving the government with the challenge of how to fund its pension requirements, take care of its elderly and maintain productivity.

Youch!
Guess they will have to work until they reach 75?

My cousin travels to Japan once a year, she loves it there and speaks the language fluently. I must say that I envy her that ability. It'd be so cool to travel to another country and be able to treat it like a home away from home.
